Main
  • 2 cups cooked shredded chicken
  • 4 cups chicken broth
  • 1 cup Bisquick mix
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 cup mixed vegetables like peas and carrots
  • 1 tablespoon butter

Equipment

  • Large pot or Dutch oven
  • Mixing bowls
  • Wooden spoon or spatula
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Sharp knife and cutting board

Method

  1. Shred the cooked chicken into bite-sized pieces.
  2. In a large pot or Dutch oven, combine the chicken broth and bring it to a gentle simmer over medium heat.
  3. Stir in the shredded chicken and mixed vegetables into the simmering broth.
  4. In a mixing bowl, whisk together Bisquick mix, milk, salt, and pepper until just combined.
  5. Drop heaping tablespoons of the dumpling batter into the simmering broth.
  6. Cover the pot with a lid and let the dumplings cook for about 15 minutes without lifting the lid.
  7. Check the dumplings for doneness by inserting a toothpick; if it comes out clean, they are ready.
  8. Remove the pot from heat and let it cool slightly before serving.

Notes

For extra flavor, add herbs like thyme or parsley to the broth while it simmers.
