Ingredients

Main
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup cornmeal
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter melted
  • 1/2 cup warm water
  • 1 packet active dry yeast
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup pizza sauce
  • 1/2 cup sliced pepperoni or your favorite toppings

Equipment

  • 9-inch deep-dish pizza pan
  • Mixing bowls
  • Rolling pin
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Spatula

Method

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the warm water and yeast. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until it becomes frothy.

  3. Add the melted butter and yeast mixture to the dry ingredients. Stir until a dough starts to form.
  4. Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 5 minutes until smooth.
  5. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise for about 1 hour.
  6. Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C).
  7. Once risen, roll out the dough and press it into the deep-dish pan.
  8. Layer the mozzarella cheese, followed by the toppings, and then pour the sauce on top.
  9. Bake the pizza for 30-35 minutes until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbly.
