Method
- Heat the milk in a saucepan until it's warm but not boiling, about 110°F.
- In a mixing bowl, combine the warm milk with sugar and yeast. Let sit for about 5-10 minutes until frothy.
- Whisk in the melted butter and eggs until combined.
- In another bowl, whisk together flour, salt, and cardamom. Gradually add to the wet ingredients, mixing until a dough forms.
- Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let rise in a warm place for about an hour.
- While the dough rises, mix brown sugar, cardamom, and nuts in a bowl for the filling.
- Once risen, roll out the dough into a rectangle, spread the filling evenly, and roll it tightly.
- Cut into 12 equal pieces and place them on a baking sheet.
- Cover the shaped buns and let them rise for another 30 minutes.
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Bake the buns for about 25 minutes, or until golden brown.
Notes
For extra flavor, brush the buns with melted butter right after baking.
