Ingredients

Main
  • 1 can 14.75 oz of salmon, drained and flaked
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1/4 cup chopped green onions
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil or cooking oil for frying

Equipment

  • Mixing bowl
  • Frying pan or skillet
  • Spatula
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Fork

Method

  1. Start by draining the canned salmon well to remove excess liquid.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the salmon, breadcrumbs, mayonnaise, egg, Dijon mustard, green onions, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
  3. Use your hands to form the mixture into patties, about 2-3 inches in diameter.
  4. Heat the olive oil in a frying pan over medium heat.
  5. Place the salmon cakes in the hot oil without overcrowding the pan, cooking for about 4-5 minutes until golden brown.
  6. Flip the cakes gently and cook for an additional 4-5 minutes until golden on both sides.
  7. Once cooked through, remove the cakes from the pan and place them on a paper towel to drain excess oil.
  8. Serve the salmon cakes warm with your favorite dipping sauce or a squeeze of lemon.
