Ingredients

Main
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 teaspoon ginger minced
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 green onions chopped (for garnish)
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds optional

Equipment

  • Large mixing bowl
  • Skillet or frying pan
  • Spatula or wooden spoon
  • Measuring cups and spoons

Method

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the soy sauce, sugar, sesame oil, minced garlic, minced ginger, and black pepper.
  2. Add the ground beef to the marinade and mix well until the meat is fully coated.
  3. Allow the beef to marinate for at least 15 minutes.
  4. Place a skillet over medium-high heat and allow it to get hot.
  5. Add the marinated ground beef to the skillet and cook, breaking it up with a spatula for about 5-7 minutes or until browned evenly.
  6. Once the beef is cooked through, stir in the chopped green onions.
  7. If desired, sprinkle sesame seeds over the cooked beef before serving.
  8. Serve the bulgogi hot over rice or in lettuce wraps.

Notes

For deeper flavor, marinate the beef longer if time permits. This dish pairs well with steamed rice or fresh lettuce leaves.
