Ingredients

Main
  • 1 pound fresh Brussel sprouts trimmed and halved
  • 3 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons balsamic vinegar optional

Equipment

  • Oven
  • Baking sheet
  • Parchment paper
  • Mixing bowl
  • Sharp knife
  • Cutting board

Method

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Trim the ends of the Brussel sprouts and cut them in half.
  3. In a mixing bowl, toss the halved sprouts with olive oil, salt, and pepper until evenly coated.
  4. Spread the sprouts in a single layer on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  5. Roast in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, until golden brown and crisp on the edges.
  6. If using balsamic vinegar, drizzle it over the sprouts during the last 5 minutes of roasting.
  7. Check that the sprouts are fork-tender and caramelized; roast longer if desired.
  8. Remove from the oven, let cool slightly, then serve warm.

Notes

For extra flavor, sprinkle grated Parmesan cheese over the sprouts just before serving.
