Main
  • 4 grouper fillets
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

Equipment

  • Large skillet or cast iron pan
  • Measuring spoons
  • Sharp knife
  • Cutting board
  • Fish spatula

Method

  1. In a small bowl, combine paprika, cayenne pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, thyme, oregano, salt, and black pepper.
  2. Drizzle olive oil over the grouper fillets, ensuring they are well-coated.
  3. Generously sprinkle the spice blend over both sides of each fillet.
  4. Heat your skillet over medium-high heat for about 5 minutes until it's hot.
  5. Carefully place the fillets in the hot skillet and cook for about 4 minutes on one side until a dark crust forms.
  6. Use a fish spatula to gently flip the fillets and cook for an additional 3 minutes on the other side until cooked through.
  7. Remove the fillets from the skillet and serve hot.

Notes

For an extra kick, let the spice mix sit on the fish for 15 minutes before cooking to deepen the flavors.
