Blackberry Margarita

Ingredients
  

Main
  • 8 to 10 fresh blackberries or frozen, thawed
  • 1.5 ounces silver tequila
  • 0.75 ounces fresh lime juice
  • 0.5 ounces Cointreau or triple sec
  • 0.5 ounces agave nectar
  • 1 cup fresh ice crushed or cubed
  • Sea salt for rimming (optional)
  • 1 lime wheel for garnish

Equipment

  • Cocktail shaker or mason jar with tight lid
  • Bar jigger or measuring cup (1.5 oz and 0.75 oz measures)
  • Muddler or back of a wooden spoon
  • Strainer or fine-mesh sieve
  • Highball or rocks glass
  • Bar spoon (optional)
  • Cutting board and knife

Method
 

  1. Pour sea salt onto a plate and wet the rim of your glass with a lime wheel, then rotate the rim through the salt.
  2. Add blackberries to the shaker and gently muddle until they release juice but still have some texture.
  3. Pour silver tequila and Cointreau into the shaker with the muddled blackberries.
  4. Add fresh lime juice to the shaker.
  5. Add agave nectar to the shaker.
  6. Fill the shaker three-quarters full with ice.
  7. Shake vigorously for 10 to 15 seconds until the outside of the shaker is frosty.
  8. Strain the mixture into the prepared glass filled with fresh ice.
  9. Garnish with a lime wheel and a few whole blackberries, then serve immediately.

Notes

Serve immediately and enjoy while the flavors are vibrant and the drink is cold.
