- Preheat the oven to 350°F and lightly grease a 9-inch square or 10-inch round baking dish.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine blackberries, granulated sugar, lemon juice, vanilla extract, cornstarch, and 1/4 teaspoon salt; gently fold to coat.
- Transfer the berry mixture to the prepared baking dish and spread into an even layer.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together oats, flour, brown sugar, 1/2 teaspoon salt, and cinnamon until evenly mixed.
- Add cold, cubed butter to the dry mixture and use your fingertips to rub it in until the topping resembles coarse crumbs.
- Evenly sprinkle the oat topping over the blackberry filling without pressing it down.
- Bake for 35 minutes until the topping is golden brown and the filling is bubbly.
- Remove from the oven and let cool for at least 10 minutes before serving.
