Ingredients

Main
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter cold and cubed
  • 3/4 cup milk

Equipment

  • Mixing bowl
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Baking sheet
  • Rolling pin
  • Pastry cutter or fork
  • Oven mitts

Method

  1. Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C).
  2. In a mixing bowl, whisk together 2 cups all-purpose flour, 1 tablespoon baking powder, and 1/2 teaspoon salt.
  3. Add 1/4 cup cold, cubed unsalted butter to the flour mixture and cut in with a pastry cutter or fork until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Pour in 3/4 cup milk and stir gently until just combined without overmixing.
  5. Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and knead lightly a few times until it comes together.
  6. Roll the dough to about 1-inch thickness and cut out biscuits using a round cutter without twisting.
  7. Place biscuits on a baking sheet and bake at 425°F (220°C) for 12 to 15 minutes until golden brown on top.
  8. Remove from the oven and let the biscuits cool slightly before serving warm.

Notes

Keep all ingredients cold and handle the dough as little as possible for extra flaky biscuits.
