Ingredients

Main
  • 1 pound fresh lump crab meat
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped green onions
  • 1 teaspoon Old Bay seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 3 tablespoons vegetable oil for frying

Equipment

  • Large mixing bowl
  • Non-stick skillet or frying pan
  • Spatula
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Cooking thermometer (optional)

Method

  1. Gather all the ingredients together for ease of assembly.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the crab meat, breadcrumbs, mayonnaise, egg, Dijon mustard, Worcestershire sauce, green onions, Old Bay seasoning, salt, and pepper.
  3. Shape the mixture into patties, about 3 inches wide and 1 inch thick.
  4. Refrigerate the formed cakes for at least 15 minutes.
  5. In a non-stick skillet, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat.
  6. Carefully place the crab cakes in the skillet and cook for about 4-5 minutes per side or until golden brown.
  7. Transfer the crab cakes to a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
  8. Serve the crab cakes warm, preferably with a squeeze of lemon or your favorite dipping sauce.

Notes

For extra flavor, try adding a splash of hot sauce to the mixture for a little kick.
