Main
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 medium onion diced
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 cup olives chopped
  • 1/4 cup fresh parsley chopped
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 sheets of puff pastry
  • 1 egg beaten (for egg wash)

Equipment

  • Mixing bowl
  • Rolling pin
  • Cutting board
  • Frying pan
  • Baking sheet
  • Parchment paper
  • Fork (for crimping edges)

Method

  1. Heat olive oil in a frying pan over medium heat.
  2. Add the diced onion and cook until translucent, about 5 minutes.
  3. Stir in the minced garlic, cumin, paprika, salt, and pepper, and cook for a minute.
  4. Add the ground beef to the pan and cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spoon, about 8 minutes.
  5. Stir in the chopped olives and parsley.
  6. Roll out the puff pastry on a floured surface to a thickness of about 1/8 inch.
  7. Cut out circles from the pastry using a round cutter or a glass, each about 5 inches in diameter.
  8. Place a spoonful of the beef mixture in the center of each pastry circle.
  9. Fold the pastry over the filling and crimp the edges with a fork to seal.
  10. Brush the tops with the beaten egg, then bake at 400°F for 25 minutes or until golden brown.

Notes

Serve with chimichurri, salsa, or guacamole for added flavor.
