Ingredients

For the Marinade
  • 1 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 1/2 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • Salt and pepper to taste
For the BBQ Sauce
  • 1 cup ketchup
  • 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon molasses
  • 1 tablespoon mustard
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Equipment

  • Grill (charcoal or gas)
  • Grilling tools (tongs, spatula, brush)
  • Meat thermometer
  • Mixing bowls
  • Cutting board
  • Sharp knife

Method

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine apple cider vinegar, soy sauce, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper.
  2. Place your chosen protein in a resealable bag and pour the marinade over it. Let it marinate in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours, or overnight for deeper flavor.
  3. In another bowl, mix ketchup, apple cider vinegar, brown sugar, molasses, mustard, smoked paprika, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
  4. Heat your grill to medium-high.
  5. Remove the meat from the marinade and place it on the grill. Cook for about 10-15 minutes, turning occasionally.
  6. During the last few minutes of grilling, brush the meat with your homemade BBQ sauce.
  7. Use a meat thermometer to ensure your meat reaches the appropriate internal temperature.
  8. Remove the meat from the grill and let it rest for 5-10 minutes.

Notes

Always marinate overnight for maximum flavor infusion.
