Ingredients

  • 1.5 ounces gin
  • 0.5 ounce dry vermouth
  • 0.75 ounce cranberry juice
  • 0.25 ounce fresh lemon juice
  • 0.25 ounce simple syrup
  • 1 dash orange bitters
  • Ice for shaking and serving
  • Fresh cranberries or a lemon twist for garnish

  • Cocktail shaker or mason jar with tight-fitting lid
  • Jigger or measuring shot glass
  • Strainer (fine-mesh or built-in shaker strainer)
  • Mixing glass or small bowl for stirring
  • Bar spoon (long-handled spoon)
  • Coupe glass, martini glass, or cocktail glass
  • Citrus juicer or hand squeezer
  • Cocktail picks or small skewers (optional, for garnish)

Method
 

  1. Chill your coupe or cocktail glass by filling it with ice and letting it sit while you prepare the drink.
  2. Measure 1.5 ounces gin and 0.5 ounce dry vermouth into your cocktail shaker using a jigger.
  3. Add 0.75 ounce fresh cranberry juice to the shaker.
  4. Squeeze fresh lemon to measure 0.25 ounce of lemon juice and add to the shaker.
  5. Pour 0.25 ounce simple syrup and add 1 dash orange bitters into the shaker.
  6. Fill the shaker three-quarters full with ice to chill and dilute properly.
  7. Seal the shaker and shake vigorously for 10 to 12 seconds until the outside is frosty.
  8. Discard the ice from your pre-chilled glass and strain the cocktail into it using a strainer.
  9. Garnish with fresh cranberries or express a lemon twist over the glass before serving.

Notes

Serve immediately and enjoy as an aperitif; pre-chill your glass for best results.
