  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 1/2 cup soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup bourbon
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 teaspoon minced ginger
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch dissolved in 2 tablespoons water
  • 2 green onions sliced for garnish

Equipment

  • Large skillet
  • Cutting board
  • Sharp knife
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Wooden spoon or spatula

Method

  1. Start by cutting the chicken thighs into bite-sized pieces.
  2. In a large skillet, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat.
  3. Add the chicken pieces to the skillet in a single layer and cook for about 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until they are golden brown.
  4. Stir in the minced garlic and ginger, cooking for an additional 1-2 minutes.
  5. In a bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, bourbon, and brown sugar.
  6. Pour the soy sauce mixture over the chicken, stirring to coat all pieces evenly.
  7. Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer for about 5 minutes.
  8. Stir in the cornstarch mixture and cook for another 1-2 minutes until the sauce thickens.
  9. Remove from heat and garnish with sliced green onions.
  10. Serve the Bourbon Chicken over rice or alongside your favorite vegetables.

Notes

For an extra layer of flavor, marinate the chicken in bourbon and soy sauce for 30 minutes before cooking.
