Main
  • 1 pound asparagus trimmed
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes optional

Equipment

  • Baking sheet
  • Aluminum foil (optional)
  • Mixing bowl
  • Measuring spoons
  • Chef's knife

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
  2. Rinse the asparagus under cold water and trim the tough ends.
  3. In a mixing bowl, combine the asparagus with olive oil, garlic powder, salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes if using.
  4. Spread the asparagus in a single layer on a baking sheet.
  5. Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and roast for about 15 minutes.
  6. Check the asparagus for tenderness after 15 minutes; if you like it a bit softer, leave it in for an additional 2-3 minutes.
  7. Remove the baking sheet from the oven and transfer the asparagus to a serving platter.
  8. If desired, sprinkle with freshly grated Parmesan cheese or a squeeze of lemon juice before serving.
