Ingredients

Main
  • 1/2 cup soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup honey or maple syrup
  • 1/4 cup rice vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons sesame oil
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 teaspoon grated ginger
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch optional, for thickening
  • 1 tablespoon water if using cornstarch

Equipment

  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Mixing bowl
  • Whisk or spoon for stirring
  • Small saucepan

Method

  1. Start by measuring out all the ingredients.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the soy sauce, honey, rice vinegar, and sesame oil. Whisk until well blended.
  3. Add the minced garlic and grated ginger to the mixture.
  4. If you want a thicker sauce, mix the cornstarch and water in a small bowl until smooth.
  5. Pour the sauce mixture into a small saucepan. Heat over medium heat, stirring occasionally.
  6. If using cornstarch, add it to the saucepan once the sauce starts to simmer. Stir continuously until the sauce thickens, about 2-3 minutes.
