Ingredients

Main
  • 2 sheets of refrigerated pie crust
  • 2 medium apples peeled and diced
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
  • 1 egg for egg wash, optional

Equipment

  • Oven
  • Rolling pin
  • Cutting board
  • Cookie cutter or a glass
  • Mixing bowl
  • Baking sheet
  • Parchment paper
  • Brush for egg wash (optional)

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the diced apples, granulated sugar, ground cinnamon, lemon juice, and flour.
  3. On a lightly floured surface, roll out the pie crust to about 1/8 inch thick.
  4. Use a cookie cutter or a glass to cut out circles from the rolled dough, about 3 inches in diameter.
  5. Place a tablespoon of the apple filling in the center of each circle.
  6. Fold the dough over the filling and pinch the edges to seal.
  7. Place the filled bites on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  8. Brush the tops with an egg wash for a shiny finish, if desired.
  9. Bake in the preheated oven for 20 to 25 minutes, or until golden brown.
  10. Allow the bites to cool slightly before serving.

Notes

These Apple Pie Bites are delightful on their own, but can also be served with vanilla ice cream, caramel sauce, or whipped cream.
